Newcastle Harbour in better times.
Today is simply F$#@ed! For you Australian's who have seen the news today you will know why. For those who haven't, it is not so good for us here on the East coast of New South Wales.
Newcastle has had its worst weather in 34 years. A huge coal transport ship like these ones has lodged itself ONTO Nobby's Beach about 75 metres away from where this guy was standing. In fact, the ship would probably have been in the frame if taken today.
The ship is carrying tonnes of diesel and there are huge fears of an environmental disaster for Newcastle. The harbour is being blocked off as I write this and three more ships of a similar size are in trouble further off the coast.
People have died and others are missing. Large parts of the area are under water (including my garage). Heath - Gateshead shops are wiped out so I've heard. Looks like my wife will be spending the night at work because of large flooding. Oh well, at least we are ok and still have coffee. Should ease by Wednesday so they say.
In the time being......what do you think of the picture?
